Waiting for the birds...

After many months of having a broken (plastic chewed through by squirrels) birdfeeder, we bought a new one yesterday at Target. I put it up last night at dusk, and I've been watching all day today, but we've had no visitors yet. We have a number of cardinals in the area, so I expect they'll be back, along with a number of other birds of varying shapes and sizes. We like the cardinals best though.

Birds are fun to watch ~ I'm a big fan of those little yellow finches. So cute.

We took Nate to the National Aviary (here in Pittsburgh) and for some reason those birds scare me a little bit. They are so use to people they just swoop right at ya. :)

build it and they will come...LOL

We used to have frequent feeders to our hummingbird feeder and then we let it go dry for a few weeks. We filled it back up and they eventually started coming back, but it took a while. I guess they didn't trust us!

God bless,
Sallie

Growing up in NY, cardinals were rare, but in SC, I see them all the time. They are beautiful!

Backyard bird watching is one of our happiest pastimes. Cardinals are our favorite too.

I love birds and watching them. Unfortunately, our House is built new and there are NO and I mean NO trees around. So no birds really flock here.

AMAZINGLY, we do have a log of hummingbirds. Two of which always get stuck in our Garage just about every time it opens.

I have found that I love watching them. Next year I am going to buy a few hummingbird feeders for the front of the house.

I wish we would get more colorful birds here....I did see a blue jay about 5 months ago.

We are having a lot of cardinals at our feeders lately. Some little chickadees and wrens too, along with a lot of sparrows.

If you had a feeder in the vicinty before, they should find it pretty quick. Even if you didn't have one close-by, they will still find it. We put up a squirrel feeder a couple of years ago (with corn cobs) and I nearly gave up hope - it took them almost 4 MONTHS to find it. :) They did though, and now they eat a LOT of corn!

I'm still waiting for families in my neighborhood to put up beer and nachos feeders in their yards.

Mike (retrodaddy) you may always have a busy signal on the house phone, but that was very funny. Thank You.

The birds will come - it just takes a while for them to find you. I am really enjoying my bird feeder - we have blue jays, chickadees, sparrows, doves, and a mommy AND daddy cardinal that visit us every day!

I keep thinking I want to get a bird feeder - but then I wonder if I want to deal with the poop issue that'll come with 'em! 8-)

I just can't seem to attract birds to my feeders. They hang around the yard but don't stay long! :)
