Food

For lack of anything much better, I figured I'd share the plan for the week as we went grocery shopping yesterday and I did all the selecting as I made menus in my head. The result, a mix of comfort foods from the USA and Europe so to speak.

Tonight we started with meatloaf, the way my mom made it. Nothing fancy, but with mashed potatoes and gravy and yellow corn, definitely comfort food.

Monday, due to time constraints with my getting off from work and Amy having to go to work, we're headed to Old Bavaria. Bratwurst on the grill with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes again, and most likely broccoli.

Tuesday, I'm off from work, so prep time is no issue, I need to get some mushrooms but all else is ready for sirloin steak on the grill, baked potatoes with the fixings and corn on the cob.

Wednesday is trivia night, so bar/pub food at Winston's.

Thursday I work the closing shift, so off to Italy for a little pasta. Simply put spaghetti, again the way mom taught me, with garlic bread. This works because I can make it by lunch time, and we can both eat it and have leftovers to take to work.

Friday is indefinite, we have some chicken breasts in the freezer, but Amy's heart is on a meal that reminds her of her childhood. Fish sticks, macaroni and cheese, and green peas. I am adding a box of fried clams for my own liking, again it's easy to do at lunchtime and I'll brown bag work.

We hit the deli at Publix for some roast beef and picked up some ham and turkey in the regular lunch meat section, so I got some Dagwood style sandwiches to make and take all week, and that is it folks!

Wow, around the world in a week, great plan Michael :) These all sound really good, and you've got a lot of our favorite foods covered here. We love brats with sauerkraut, especially as it gets to be fall and football season. This summer, I tried some chicken sausages, and we like them on the grill too. Not quite as good as brats, but each link has like 6 grams of fat as opposed to 21 in each brat. That's a tradeoff I'm willing to make :)

Hope you guys have a terrific week!

Wow, Amy is lucky that you fix dinner! Everything sounds yummy. I am hoping that when my husband retires (soon), he'll do most of the housework, so all I have left is the grocery shopping and meal preparation.

Best wishes on your wait for your sweet little girl. They are such beautiful children!

I'm still working on my Menu Plan Monday, I hope to have it up soon, with recipes, most are healthy and quick, maybe you'll find some to try!

I just found a new grilled corn on the cob recipe I hope to try soon with steak. You buy fresh corn on the cob, pull back stalks but don't remove, get all silk off of corn. Pull stalks up and soak in a pot of water for 30 minutes. Wrap uncooked bacon slices around the corn, pull up the stalks and grill, rotating every few minutes. Let me know if you try it and how it turns out!
