Saturday Photo Hunt # 16 - Row

Not your average row of parking spaces, this row includes the location of the pitcher's mound in what had been Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, the same pitcher's mound from which Hank Aaron's 716th career home run hit was pitched.

Great idea for the row theme - and also for the planners to leave that patch intact! That's respect!! :)

Why did they put Hank Aaron out in the parking lot? That was important! But your photo is really great and illustrative.

Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was demolished after the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. The Olympic stadium was then modified to become the new Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves.

Parking for the new baseball field includes the old stadium grounds where they not only marked the pitcer's mound, but another section of the parking lot has the preserved section of the outfield wall where Aaron's record-setting hit flew over.

They could have left that particular area as a no parking in in honor to an era that is now gone. As Rodney Dangerfield might say... "No respect"
