Thrasher Claus

Yesterday (Saturday) it was really slow at work, so I asked the boss if we could try something. We still have the Santa suit from two weeks ago, so I put it on and took a large sign advertising we're open until Midnight down to the road and waved at cars and held up the sign. I jokingly mentioned that I had my Atlanta Thrashers Jersey in the car and it would fit over the Santa suit enabling me to be Thrasher Claus. He liked the idea, but decided to pass.

So, as it is, I spent about 4 hours on Saturday down on the road waving at cars. I really enjoyed that part of my shift (despite the cold hands). When I am driving along and see someone advertising a business on te roadside, dressed in a costume, or just in uniform holding a sign, I generally try to avoid eye contact and move on. There is something different about doing it as Santa (like when I was the Chick-fil-a Cow) that people will smile, wave back, an honk their horns as they pass. It actually felt like I was spreading joy in some fashion, which was pretty cool. Now see, I'm not all this negative guy that some of my posts would make you all believe.

Nothing beats spreading the joy at christmas... merry christmas...

I can see how being Santa would get more positive attention. Certainly beats working for that Liberty Tax place and having to dress up as the Statue of Liberty!
