Thursday Thirteen #21 - Baseball Movies

Having watched my
Philadelphia Phillies
win their second straight game over the New York Mets tonight, I felt inspired to write a list of my 13 favorite movies that revolve around baseball. These are NOT in any specific order...

For Love of the Game - Costner and Preston

Bull Durham - Costner and Robbins

Major League - Sheen, Snipes, Ueuker, Haysbert, Russo

The Natural - Redford and Brimley

Bad News Bears in Breaking Training - "Let them play!"

The Rookie - Dennis Quaid

Field of Dreams - Costner, Jones, Liota

A League of Their Own - Hanks, Davis, Petty, Madonna

Fever Pitch (this one grew on me) - Fallon, Barrymore

The Benchwarmers - Heder, Lovitz, Spade

Little Big League

The Fan - Deniro, Snipes

Mr. Baseball - Selleck

Bull Durham is responsible for more sayings in my house. I can't count how many times I've seen it. I love that movie. I didn't think I'd like Fever Pitch, but it grew on me too.

I love baseball movies too.

I have nothing to add. My husband and I went out to dinner a few years back with several couples who were baseball fans and coming up with this list of baseball movies occupied a good portion of our dinner!

Great list! I caught a little bit of Fever Pitch the other day -- maybe I'll go check out the whole thing. I have a soft spot for good baseball movies. :)

I've watched a couple of the movies you listed down like A League of Their Own, Major League and Field of Dreams. The others I still have to watch. I heard that The Benchwarmers is pretty good.

Happy Thursday!

The Natural and The Rookie are both really great movies, but IMHO, the Costner baseball movies are as good as it gets. They are the best of the best, to me.

Great list, and a great idea for a T13!

P.S. Is baseball season over yet, I'm ready for some football! LOL!

at least you got to watch the game. Comcast bastages keep me blacked out.

Costner and baseball, perfect together. For love of the game is such an underrated movie.

I can recite most of the Major League movie.

"Cmon Dorn! None of this olay Bull*bleep*"

Fever Pitch sucks!ye maybe I am biased because i'm a yankees fan but how can the sandlot or pride of the yankees not be on this and fever pitch is? :)

My father-in-law is a big Phillies fan.

As a 3rd generation Red Sox fan, I have to say that "Fever Pitch" is by far the best one on your list in my biased opinion ;-)
