10 Favorite Horror Films

I need to first say that horror movies don't do much for me. The standard blood and gore slasher film does not interest me, so it takes something more along the lines of a supernatural creepiness to draw me in. That being said, here is my list, not in a ranked order.

1. Signs - the scene where you see the alien in the alley at the birthday party actually startled me.
2. Scream - It was more a murder/thriller, but it made light of the horror genre.
3. The Others - I only saw it once, but I liked the gothic drama of it.
4. Bram Stoker's Dracula - the 90's version with Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman.
5. Nightmare on Elm Street - the only slasher series I ever liked.
6. The Lost Boys - Kiefer Sutherland as a badass.
7. The Blair Witch Project - a little school pride as the guys who made this were from UCF and you have to appreciate the budget and the marketing campaign.
8. Nightmare Before Christmas - very clever.
9. The Birds - what a concept!
10. Poltergeist - they're here!

I have to agree I don't like slasher films myself. Good to see there's others out there who like Lost Boys too :)

I admit, I've seen ALMOST all of these, but not quite. But Blair Witch? Really Michael? Awww.... My own opinion, the movie was annoying to watch, a bunch of brats fight with eacher while carrying a shaky camera. If I hadn't been on a date I would've walked out of the theater on that one.

BUT! I do agree with you for your reasons for liking it. I like the concept behind it, that supernatural aspect to it.

I've seen Blair Witch Project (1999) just yesterday and I loved it! The amateur camera effect makes it more creepy and is also inclined to the film's marketing campaign. Man, I thought that the whole thing is real, I mean the film! It's like watching a live documentary in TV! I just got frustrated that they haven't included some videos about the cop's findings about the case. I think it's nice to see that part at the end of the story. But that's just me. :)

BTW, for those of you who prefer to watch movies in theaters, I would like to recommend House by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti. It'll be in theaters this coming November 7. The story is awesome guys, you've got to see this! There's a list of cities where House will be shown in their official website, housethemovie.net.

Thanks for the list, I might check The Lost Boys in your list, haven't seen that one yet. Happy Halloween guys!

Oh no! I can not and will not watch any scary movies or TV shows. I'm a wimp and have nightmares for days. Happy movies for me! Look forward to meeting you and your wife this weekend.
