Actually that's the moon. I set it on no flash, broke out the tripod and went to work. The major differences had to do with how much I zoomed in on the trees as to how much ambient light was captured. The amount of zoom affected the automatic shutter speed, so in that manner the settings changed.

I've discovered in the first winter in our new (first) home that cold nights with a fire going in the fireplace is one of the joys of life!
OOOh, neat series. Did you change the settings on your camera between exposures, or just take them as the sun set lower and lower?
