13 Roles I would love to have the talent and ability to perform from the theatre. 1. Jean Valjean – Les Miserables has always been my favorite musical. 2. Mark Cohen – RENT – Something about the detached attitude he has as he chronicles a year in the life of his friends has always connected with me. I like to be the observer. 3. Beast/Eric – Disney’s Beauty and the Beast – again something about connecting with the character who wants to love but is too hideous for this world. 4. Charlie Brown – You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown – I have actually played this role and I loved it. It was the first time I ever tried out for a pay, a church production as a choir fundraiser. It was a two performance run that I would have loved to have continued. 5. Old Deuteronomy – Cats – Someone’s got to be the top cat. 6. Joseph – Joseph and the Amazing Techno-color Dreamcoat. The songs are in my range, and it’s a great story. 7. Jesus – Jesus Christ Superstar 8. Judas – Jesus Christ Superstar 9. Marius – Les Miserables – the chance to sing “Empty Chairs” 10. The Engineer – Miss Saigon – okay, so I’m not Asian, but I love this character – funny lines and good songs in a poignant story. 11. Joe Gillis – Sunset Boulevard – I wish this was still touring or re-opens in NYC. 12. Roger Davis – RENT – some great songs, and a love story to boot. I love the songs in which he trades words with Mark 13. Danny Zuko – Grease – There’s not a lot of depth here, but I love the Sandy (reprise) at the beginning of the London Cast Recording, of course he was singing about Debbie Gibson, who has also appeared in Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables, and Joseph which are on my list. 14. Honorable mention because it’s not a theatre piece – Christian from Moulin Rouge.

Lol! I am NOT a theatre fan so I don't know half of who you've got listed here :)
Happy Thursday Thirteen though and thank you for sharing. Now I know just a little bit more about theatre characters.
How FUN! Grease has always been my fave. I can't wait to watch the new show next Sunday, but I don't like the fact that they've already chosen people to audition. I wish it was more like American Idol..starting from scratch.
Hope you get to do some of these!
All of those sound great as I know you have a beautiful voice..You rock
The first musical/play I ever saw was Les Miserables back in 1985 when it first came out in London and I LOVED it. Made quite an impression and was a great intro to theatre. I can see why it's an attractive role--or two.
I promise my 13 year old daughter's undying love for your portrayal of Mark. She's such a Rent-o-phile!
What a great theatrical TT
Mine is up 2

How fun! :) and I LOVE your Honorable Mention. Who new Ewan McGregor could sing like that? I could listen to him for days!
What a fun list. I loved Les Mis.
If you had to choose one song to sing from Les Mis, which one would you sing??
Happy TT!
Well, On My Own is my fav song from the play, but well, it's Eponine's song. As for songs by guys...
One Day More, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, Who am I, Bring Him Home, Drink with Me.
Thanks for stopping by the COUCH
I have not a stitch of talent to play any of those roles.
Those are very good choices. Great list of 13. When my daughter was in her High School Drama club, they did alot of Broadway shows and I loved them all. I especially loved Godspell. they performed it very well.
Love Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat. Love singing the song he sings when he's in the prison....
Great list! Thanks for sharing!

What a neat TT! And I love, love, love Les Miserables -- I'd want to play Eponine for the chance to sing "On My Own."
Have a great weekend!
too bad you and I missed the casting call for the new reality show that picks the new leads for Grease. I'd have loved to be Sandy. Actually, I'd rather have been Rizzo. :)
Obviously I'm going to have to up my contemporary musical theatre watching... there were only a handful of these I knew! Here's a heartfelt "Break a leg!" anyway - I bet you'd be great in them! Thanks for visiting my TT and happy new year!
